Sažetak
Marine Environmental Database of the Adriatic Sea (MEDAS) has been developed in relation to a database using ORACLE RDBMS. It consists of information on measurement data, area of measurements, the people responsible for the research and institutions. The database also has system for access control. Database includes data relating to various oceanographic parameters: meteorological, physical and chemical as well as biological types of data. Two kinds of applications are used to manage the data: the first is developed under ORACLE Forms 5.0 and is used for alphanumeric information; the second is developed under C++ program language and is used to visualise the area of measurements. A special interface for connecting the database to ArcInfo/ArcView software tools has been developed. The database has been designed so that in the future access might be gained via the World Wide Web.
