Sažetak
PURPOSE: The aim was to investigate the effects of age, gender, Eichner clasification and presence of posterior teeth on the mandibular residual ridge resorption in the region of foramen mentale. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Linear measurements were made on 294 panoramic radiographs using ISSA software. Linear Index was expressed as a proportion of an measurement dependent of the alveolar ridge and the one that is not, what minimizes errors related to magnification and distortion. RESULTS: The resorption was signifficantly affected (p<0.05) by the loss of posterior teeth (right side-3, 4%, left side-3%) and by the Eichner clasification on the right side (3, 1%) . No significant effects of gender and age, and Eichner clasification on the left side were observed (p>0.05), but they changed the dependent variable only 0, 7% on the right side and 3.4% on the left side. CONCLUSION: Gender and age failed to show an association with mandibular ridge resorption.
