Sažetak
Heavy metals are significant environmental pollutants and recent years have shown a need for stricter regulations of the effects of their toxicity. Industrialization and urbanization have contributed to the rise of heavy metals in the biosphere. Industrial wastewaters frequently contain high levels of heavy metals and have to be treated before their disposal, to avoid water pollution. Adsorption and ion exchange on natural zeolite clinoptilolite are considered to be low cost and effective methods. The present study examines the effect of the bed depth and Pb/Zn concentration ratio in the influent on breakthrough curves. The dynamic behaviour of breakthrough curves has been analysed with the Thomas model.
