Sažetak
Tribological use of DLC (diamond-like carbon) coatings nowadays includes sliding components and cutting tools for non-ferrous alloys, such as aluminum, copper, magnesium and lead alloys, and non-metals, such as fibre-reinforced polymers and other composites, semi-sintered ceramics, cold-pressed cemented carbides, graphite, silicon, hard rubbers and wood. Since materials of higher hardness as a rule have higher abrasion resistance, it is reasonably to expect an increase of abrasion resistance when materials are coated by DLC . Abrasion resistance of a DLC coating was examined in this work. The substrate of a tool steel was hardened and tempered to a range of hardness and then coated by plasma activated chemical vapour deposition (PACVD). Abrasion wear testing was done according to a modified ASTM G 65-94 procedure.
