Sažetak
The well understanding of the term "design speed", way of establishing of it, s value as well as aim and way of its application in forming of road features are the essential suppositions for the correct designing and execution of basic requirements of safe traffic. Design guidelines in force in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Croatia offer the solution in different ways. The comparative analysis show rather great differences in values of "expected driving speed" at the same road section, raising the problem of finding out the optimal solution of this issue.
