Sažetak
An improved version of glass micro-ebulliometer has been designed and constructed for quick measurement of total pressure of vapour–liquid systems for which only a little amount of material is available. Original version of apparatus has already been described1. Figure 1. Comparison of old (left) and new (right) apparatus Main modification consists in the design/construction of liquid phase recirculation ; condensed vapour phase and equilibrium liquid phase are mixed together before entering the independent line (going to the heating section) which is provided with the throttling element. All vapour bubbles formed in the boiler are forced to flow only through the Cottrell pump because of this arrangement. This has also eliminated problems due to back flashing of vapour bubbles to the incoming liquid phase which has appeared as very problematic for more viscous polymer solutions. Other little steric changes were applied to in order to improve the overall operation of the apparatus. Comparison of both stills is depicted in Figure 1. The experimental data obtained using the modified ebulliometer were published in high ranked journals2-3. References 1.
