Sažetak
Various ideas and proposals related to the Adriatic Railway have been discussed for ten years with the objective of connecting the cities along the coastal belt with the hinerland. One of the objectives of the railroad is to increase the transportation of cargo and passengers; hence, it is necessary that the railway, considering its technical and organizational aspects, should increase the number of passengers on medium and long relations and stop the decrease of its relative contribution in the goods transport and passengers transportation. In the age of planning, design and construction of fast railway lines, the Adriatic Railway has the function of connecting more efficiently the West European countries with the East Eropean. A modern railway line along the Adriatic coast could ensure safe, inexpensive, correct, fast nd comfortable transportation of goods and passenger. In addition to the previously developed studies, it is necessary to carry out research in order to define scientifically the corridor, various alternatives of the routes with technical parameters and to investigate the possible negative environmental effects of the Adriatic Railway during its construction and exploitation. The purpose of this study is a preventive protection, and its result is a proposal for the conditions, methods and measures of environmental protection which will reduce or eliminate hazardous effects. Consequently, it is evident that often conflicting interests will have to be satisfied. All the observed requirements create goals while evaluation and description of these objectives create criteria. A great number of criteria and alternatives for the railroad route entails the application of numerical methods. The PROMETHEE method will be used in this study since it enables the inclusion of measurable criteria in the basic units, of descriptive criteria by weights and it includes the graphic package GAIA which enables the visualization of output data. The preference ranking and the graphic presentation of the obtained results make it possible to find an objective solution of the imposed problem of decision making and selection of the optimal corridor of the Adriatic Railway. The developed methodology will be used for practical purposes since it exhibits a logical and simple method for the determination of the corridor and satisfies all requirements imposed by the users.
