Sažetak
The content of total polyphenols (TP), tannins (T), and total flavonoids (TF) were determinated in in fourteen Croatian populations (seven per species) of S. montana and S. subspicata using spectrophotometric determination. In both species, stems generally contained the smallest amount of TP, T, and TF, while the highest content of investigated compounds was obtained for the majority of leaf samples. S. subspicata generally contained higher concentration of antioxidant phenolic compounds (TP: 5.96–20.04% ; T: 0.21–6.95% ; TF: 0.07–0.57%) than S. montana (TP: 4.43–12.41% ; T: 0.08–4.90% ; TF: 0.04–0.40%). As regard to the analyzed phenolic compounds, PCA and UPGMA clearly separated the examined populations of S. montana and S. subspicata from each other.
