Sažetak
The terms environment and ecology are in principle well-known words. Their concept, meaning and education, however, are less known even to scientists whose subject of research is not directly connected to those disciplines. Therefore, the paper will present a short review of a contemplative synthesis regarding the essential and common characteristics of the world environment, its meaning and importance in the contemporary world. The need for a thorough education of this young scientific discipline is imposed as a necessity. Thereby, it should be emphasized that althogh linguistic terms: concept and meaning of the world environment differ, they interlace and complement each other in this paper emphasizing still more the significance and importance of the education of our undergraduate and postgraduate students both of natural and social, technical and medical studies.
