Sažetak
Concrete durability is a capacity of concrete to resist changes of its properties. Concrete structures, especially bridges, should be designed and executed in such a way that, under expected environmental conditions, their safety and usability persist throughout their designed lifetime. However, in the spirit of sustainable development the replacement of clinker by secondary raw-materials to improve concrete durability characteristics, with additional reduction of CO2 emissions is increasingly utilized in practice. It is well known that, during the cement production, CO2 is released as a by-product during the calcination of limestone (CaCO3) from raw material (CaCO3 = CaO+CO2. CO2 is also emitted in cement production by fuel combustion during burning in rotary kiln furnace. More acceptable, more rational and environmentally favorable way of cement production is the employment of mineral additives, as a replacing clinker part which reduce CO2 emissions and have beneficial impact on some durability characteristics of concrete. This has given rise to the appearance of new cement types on the market resulting from the need for sustainable development. This has been proved by tests of concrete resistance to the agressive environment impact. The last mentioned is actually the subject of this research.
