Sažetak
Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), tomato moth is a new devastating pest of tomato crops in Croatia and Montenegro. In this work we used the PCR method in order to test for the presence/absence of six different endosymbiotic bacteria in three different populations of Tuta absoluta. The results confirmed only the presence of Wolbachia. The possibility of its horizontal transfer between distantly related arthropods, e.g. whiteflies (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), is discussed.
