Sažetak
One of the most pressing environmental problems that has been facing the organic dyes industry is the removal of colour from production and application wastewaters prior to discharge to local sewage treatment facilities or adjoining water courses. Brightly coloured water-soluble reactive dyes are particularly problematic, passing unaffected through conventional treatment systems due to their poor biodegrability. Considerable effort has been spent developing suitable treatment systems for these effluents. In the present work the efficiency of the several treatment processes were studied on the model reactive dye wastewater. Dye reduction as a wastewater pretreatment process was investigated and the suitable reduction agent was established. Coagulation/flocculation method using inorganic and polymeric agents as well as adsorption on various adsorbents were applied as a wastewater treatment processes. Efficiency of the treatment processes was estimated on the basis of the improved water quality by monitoring BOD, COD, TOC and AOX.
