Sažetak
Globalization encourages people form different countries, religions and backgrounds to communicate. New technologies offer possibility of endless communication. Increased migration on different levels creates ethnic diversity and multicultural communities. Global communication requires removing barriers of linguistic languages. New built environment is followed by global flow of signs and symbols. To enable successful communication it is necessary to establish functional, simple and widely understandable system of communication. With increased number of languages, marketing activities need more financial support to place a message. Embracing new visual language of signs can lower the costs in global as well as in local marketing activities. A great number of symbols is already recognized and being rapidly developed due to communication in information society. When used with other signs, words or images they easily and successfully carry the message. To avoid possible misinterpretation followed by frustration, senders of the message must carefully choose signs and consider their relationships as well as possible miss-leading meanings. They do not necessary visualize their own meaning, often because they stand for complex ideas or concepts derived from new technologies. They should be used as a replacement for classic ways of communication when those are not sufficient.
