Sažetak
Much has been said and written about the maritime trade in the ancient times. Since than there has been a growing awareness of the connectedness of both coasts of the Adriatic, the coveted indented Eastern Adriatic coast, the mild climate and the natural shelters and currents that make the voyage to the Northwestern end of the sea relatively easy. Regardless of the ancient political propaganda, it is certain that the traits of the Eastern Adriatic coast that we tend to think of as the greatest advantages of the coast were also its greatest shortcomings. If we take into consideration the undersea findings of all of the ancient shipwrecks in the Croatian Adriatic and add to that the new findings at the area of Palgruža and Cape Ploče at Rogoznica we have to stop and consider the validity of the notion of the organized East-Adriatic sea way older than 4th ct. BC. Respecting all of the regulations that limit the results of undersea archeological evidence, it can be said that this evidence, if studied with care, can serve as tool of analysis telling one much about the political and economic conditions in antiquity.
