Sažetak
Due to the complexity of modern marine power plants, criteria of reliability, availability and maintainability became key features in ship design, exploitation and maintenance. Mathematical algorithms for the determination of reliability, availability and maintainability characteristics have been developed for basic models of functional connections of marine power plant components. Classification of failure modes with respect to their effect on the working ability of the system has been taken into consideration. The algorithms are based on the reliability block diagram (RBD) method. Characteristics of failure and repair rate are inputted through the user’s interface, or by means of integration with the ReliBase database. The mathematical model for the RAM characteristics integration from the component level to the system level, for the usual type of functional connections between components, is unsuitable for direct application to the marine power plant design. Therefore, a computer program, ReliCalc, has been developed in accordance with the above-mentioned mathematical algorithms. On the basis of characteristics of failure and repair rate, the program calculates RAM characteristics of the system composed of n components without standby redundancy, with doubled standby redundancy and with parallel standby redundancy.
