Sažetak
The Quaternary volcanic field of the Chyulu Hills is situated on the southern flank of the Kenya rift. Magmas are predominantly of alkali basaltic composition and sampled peridotite, pyroxenite and granulite xenoliths on their way to the surface. Geohermobarometrical studies have shown that only some of the investigated xenoliths were equilibrated to the ambient pressure-temperature of 1360°C and a pressure of 35 kb. On the other side, chemical zoning and exsolution phenomena in pyroxenes of harzburgite and pyroxenite xenoliths do not allow the correct determinaion of P-T conditions of the place from which they come, but document complex thermal evolution of the upper mantle underneath Chyulu Hills.
