Sažetak
The notion of quality has a very broad meaning in the graphic industry. The notion of a quality graphic product comprises only the products that satisfy their purpose i.e. that are ultimately usable. Some mistakes that occurred during the production process are tolerated in certain cases, while in some cases they are inexcusable. The variety of printing technologies causes the limits of quality tolerance to be moved. The quality level depends primarily on the printing technology that is applied, but also on the quality of the consumables themselves that are used during the technological process. The higher the requirements of the customer are the higher is also the need for as high as possible quality of consumables. Nevertheless, beside the quality also the price is important. Each top quality product requires also top quality consumables. The use of top quality technology ensures easier achievement, but also maintenance of the desired quality level. Apart from achieving it, it is also very important to maintain the achieved quality level, because oscillations in quality cause the production process to become unreliable, as well as possible generation of bad products. If only one of the mentioned parameters is not fulfilled, it is very difficult to produce a top quality product. The parameters for measuring and comparison of product or impression quality depend on the technological production process. While the tolerance limits are rather broad in newspaper printing, they are considerably narrower in commercial printing, and they are the narrowest in sheetfed printing. Each of the mentioned technologies has its limitations, but also advantages. Only by obeying the rules and making use of the advantages and limitations of each individual printing technology it is possible to achieve top quality products within the tolerance limits and dependent on the used materials, primarily papers. If all the parameters for achieving the quality level for a certain technology are known, and if all the rules of the production process are taken into account, a continuous product quality within the set limits is assured. In any case, a quality product is the product with its esthetic and use value and customer satisfaction.
