Sažetak
The crystal structures of biologically active conjugates of the plant growth hormone, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA=auxin) with the non-natural omega-amino acids beta-alanine (1), gama-aminobutyric acid (2) and epsilon-aminohexanoic acid (3) have been determined. The indole ring system and C atom of the adjacent nethylene group are coplanar. The CH2-carbonyl bond is approximately perpendicular to this plane. In the structures (1) and (3) the peptide O atom points away from the indole ring whereas in (2) the torsion angle is 45.1. The orientations of the amino-acid chains with respect to the aromatic rings are also different. However, the conformation of the indole moiety and the two adjacent C atom is identical for the structures described. Thus the indole NH group is not sterically blocked and remains available for interaction with proteins of specific enzymes.
