Sažetak
This paper presents key RIS technologies like Inland Electronic Chart Display and Information System, Notices to Skippers, Inland AIS and Electronic Reporting that are currently in implementation stage in North and South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. Implementation of river information services in the Danube river basin countries is being conducted throughout national and Pan-European development projects. Key thematic areas of IRIS Europe II project are presented in order to achieve harmonised and uniform development of RIS infrastructure and services along the Danube waterway network. In the overall context of the Danube river basin countries, development and formalization of River Information Services is shown as an example for other transport modes towards a successful implementation of IT related traffic and transport services.
