Sažetak
Fluid Angular Rate Sensor (FARS) is the sensor of angular rate(velocity) of a moving object. It converts the angular rate into the electric or the mechanic quantity. The output quantity is proportional to the angular rate. The primary signal is generated by the action of the inertial Coriolis force. The Coriolis force appears as a consequence of the forced fluid motion inside of the elastic tube system that rotates together with the moving object. The angular rate is the input quantity for the controlling object. There are the three possibilities of fluid forced motion: passing through, circular and oscillatory. Fluid motion is possible to produce in many design forms of the tube elastic systems. Sensing signal appears in the forms of displacement, velocity or force. A possible sensor tube configuration is shown in Figure. The basic components of the FARS are: housing(1), elastic tube(s) one or more(2), micro pump for a steady or oscillatory flow(3), motion sensors of the reference points(4,5), bypass-valve(6), connectors(7,8) and electronic converter(not shown).
FARS could be used as the angular rate sensor in the automatic control systems on moving objects like: robots, rockets, airplanes, ships, transport vehicles etc.
