Sažetak
Because of their many advantages comparing to classical reactors (large surface to volume ratio, excellent mass and heat transfer, small amount of reagents…) microreactors are being wieldy used, from chemical technology to biotechnology. Lately, applications of microreactor for bioconversions using enzymes or whole cells are being broadly investigated. Mathematical description of microreactor bioconversion is usually quite complex. It includes hydrodynamics and reaction rates expressions.To solve those models complex numerical methods are mainly used (finite differences, finite elements, etc.). The aim of this work was to investigate the possibility of using simple numerical approximations for solving set of partial differential equations describing bioconversion process e.g. laccase catalysed L- DOPA oxidation in microreactor.2D model composed of convection in flow direction and diffusion in two direction term and reaction rate term was solved approximating microreactor with two and four parallel tubular plug flow rectors. Due to small radius comparing to microreactor length, radial diffusion was not limiting factor. Neverthless, effect of axial diffusion was additionally analysed in approximated model. Results showed that simple numerical approximations could be used for solving of complex mathematical model for bioconversion in microreactor while obtained simulation results describe experimental data very well.
