Sažetak
The equipment in outdoor childrens playgrounds includes products or groups of products intended for childrens play in parks. Facilities for childrens play in playgrounds are mainly imported, but some are also produced in small domestic individual manufacturers workshops. National projects on playgrounds and equipment are either at the level of empirical conception or are bad copies of imported products. To improve the design and construction, as well as the production of equipment for childrens playgrounds, it is necessary to follow the basic standard EN 1176/98. This standard has to be adopted as early as the conception stage of the design and functional solutions of equipment. The standard determines the necessary technical requirements for proper manufacture and installation of objects. Quality testing of products and their assembly in some playgrounds in Croatia has revealed a number of deficiencies, mainly resulting from not adhering to the prescribed standards for installation, inspection, maintenance and usage of devices and equipment for childrens playgrounds. The results of the analysis indicate that inadequacies in the projects of childrens playgrounds reduce safety in using the equipment. Material of higher quality should be used in manufacturing the equipment in workshops, and sophisticated technological machines should be utilised.
