Sažetak
Epilepsy is the third most frequent neurological disease in the elderly, following dementia and stroke. Since the number of elderly people, especially older than 75 years has been increasing constantly, epilepsy in the elderly should be treated as an important public health and clinical problem. In the chapter epidemiological data, etiology, clinical types of seizures and diagnostic algorithms are shown, and special attention is dedicated to therapy – pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, dosing of drugs and interactions of AEDs with other drugs.
