Sažetak
Steel and iron making industries have been driven by the requirements of maintaining or improving product quality and minimization of production costs. Within this requirement the overall energy management and energy efficiency play important roles. The choice of combustion technology for furnaces in steelworks is one of the key factors in minimization of energy consumption per unit of product. To meet the higher requirements it is necessary to improve existing furnace by optimising the efficiency and by reducing the pollutant production of burners and combustion chambers. One of the solutions is the replacement of the existing conventional combustion technology by the so- called "advanced" commercially available combustion techniques. The objectives of the paper is one the rotary hearth furnace wquipped with conventional combustion technologies to choose the optimal combustion technique under which the furnace should be operated in order to maximize the efficiency and minimize the pollutant emissions, taking into account the profitability of the investment i.e. the payback period. One of the solutions in the replacement of the existing conventional combustion technology by the so-called "advanced" commercially available combustion techniques. This paper presents the bases for a comparative analysis between the three incoming commercial offers with three different combustion technologies.
