Sažetak
Energy efficiency of a reheating furnace for charge heating prior to hot forming depends on various parameters of the heating process. The greatest influence on the furnace energy efficiency has the mode of realization of the combustion process. The efficiency of a heating process is significantly affected by the temperature of air preheating. The rotary hearth furnace in the line for seamless pipe production, of the nominal heating capacity of 27t/h, is taken as an example of research. The charge heating is being realized by the open flame in the process of combustion of the mixture of natural gas and preheated air. Due to the lower production capacity of the hot rolling pilger mill in the relation to the furnace heating capacity, the furnace works with the decreased furnace output of 13-15t/h. For this reason, the preheated zone is not fired. Because of the lower flue gas temperatures at the inlet of the recuperator, the temperature of air preheating mounted on the rotary-hearth furnace is characterized by cross-counterflow scheme of fluid flow. The recuperator functionality in the existing working conditions has been analyzed and the appropriate solutions for increasing the temperature of preheated air were proposed.
