Sažetak
The author discusses the changes in contemporary societies brought by the second modernization of the world and accelerated by the use of information and communication technologies. Employing the theories of McLuhan and Castells, author examines the relationship between technology and society. The political dimension of transformation is explored both in terms of the change in local – global dynamics and the impact of new communication practices on political culture and participation. Finally, author evaluates the advantages and risks of the new information and network society.
