Sažetak
Adsorption of lead(II) and cadmium(II) from halide solutions has been studied at different ionic strengths (I=1-5 mol/l) using polarographic methods. In each case, the identity of the adsorbing species was found after comparison of the adsorption effects, such as the peak height enhancement in differential pulse polarography or square wave voltammetry, with the ionic distribution in the solution. The composition of the complex attached to the electrode surface was calculated from the maximum potential shift (dEm) with increasing ligand concentration at a constant ionic strength maintained with sodium perchlorate. It seems that the character of the adsorbing species does not depend on the ionic strength while the coordination nmber of the adsorbed complex increases in more concentrated salt solutions, i.e. at lower water activities, indicating that only in such a case does additional surface complexation with previously adsorbed free ligand ions become important.
