Sažetak
The highest possible fractions of MAB, MA2B+MAB2, MA3B+MA2B2+MAB3, and all mixed-ligand species together, with respect to the total metal concentration, have been calculated, assuming that the concentration of the ligand A is gradually increased while ligand B is kept at a constant level. Analytical expressions for the maximum percentage of MAB species and the concentration of the ligand A at which it appears, have been derived. If the highest possible coordination number N=2 is taken, the maximum contribution of MAB approaches 50%. However, if N=3 or 4 the percentage of the same complex is significantly lower, owing to the increased number of competing species. Generally, only the sum of mixed-ligand complexes with the highest possible coordination number can nearly reach upper-bound limitations previously defined in the literature.
