Sažetak
This paper analyzes the current position of the EU chemical industry and suggests ways to reinforce export competitiveness for winning the race in the industry. The EU chemical industry has undergone a significant upturn in the past few years. Hence, it is very important for the EU chemical industry to conduct a sound economic and statistical analysis of the factors determining the rapid structural change in the chemicals sector, and the competitive position of the European chemical industry. Based on this analysis, it is of the utmost importance to identify the current situation and possible impacts in order to enhance the export competitiveness of the European chemical industry in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The main objective of this paper is to explore and explain the crucial role of the EU chemical industry along with the analysis of comparative advantages and the overall export competitiveness based on the example of chemical industry. In this context, the paper applies indicators of comparative advantages, industry trade and export competitiveness.
