Sažetak
We report hemodynamic changes in four patients with transformed migraine overusing ergotamine. All patients had migraine with aura starting in the twenties, and now having more than five days headaches resembling migraine. They were using 2-21 tablets of ergotamine weekly for more than a year. The Transcranial Doppler during the headache showed the decrease of the pulsatility index in all the vessels of the Willis circle compared to the headache-free period, which was recorded two hours after ingestion of ergotamine. At the same time blood flow velocities didnt show any changes in three patients. We propose that the headache is a result of arteriolar vasodilatation. During the headache-free period (after ergotamine ingestion), increased arteriolar tone was observed.
