Sažetak
The newly developed equipment in the textile industry enables high machine speeds causing thermal loads of the machine, material and needle, Fig. 17.1. Alignment parameters of fabric thickness, sewing machine speed, needle size and shape can lead to a reduction of the high thermal loading. The slightest damage to the needle point leads to loop break or fabric damage as well as stitch skipping when the needle penetrates the material. Sewing machine needles are pushed to their capability limits in the demanding high speed production of flat seams and assembly seams. Needle manufacturers produce special coated needles to protecting damage at the point of the needle. The used needle system was 134 (R) and depends in principle on the type of the used machine and the sewing job in question. The testing material and needles were obtained from the Company Čateks, Čakovec. The paper investigates needle and material damage used for protective clothing for adults and children (raincoats, jackets, trousers, overalls) which protects against rain, wind etc., using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) equipped with Energy-Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).
