Sažetak
Arch bridge failures and collapses are addressed to in the paper. Extensive data on historical arch bridge failures is provided. The various causes of these disasters are offered and some of the most striking arch bridge failures highlighted. Lessons learned from these events are submitted, based on the investigation reports of each particular arch bridge failure. Recommendations for preventive measure are provided, which are based on the most up-to-date sources and codes.
