Sažetak
Information-communication technologies represent the main drivers of globalized societies based on knowledge. The Arab region is an emerging and fast developing region characterized by a wealth of natural resources and ongoing institutional reforms of both the public and private sectors. Undoubtedly, information and communication technologies are one of the key economic platforms for growth in the Arab States region, and several developments have been taking place in this area over the past years. ICT has the potential to help the Arab world accelerate its economic and social development, decrease poverty, and foster knowledge and trade. However, there are a number of challenges the region has to address in order to increase ICT access and bring the benefits of ICT use to a large part of its population. This paper analyses the level of ICT development in Arab States region. It further analyses the main challenges of ICT convergence as well as the perspective of development of the ICT platform as a tool for the Arab States successful inclusion into the regional and global trends.
