Sažetak
In this study we provided the evidence that higher levels of HDL, and particularly HDL2 cholesterol, may be protective against the development of albuminuria in type 1 diabetes. The relationship between lipids and albuminuria has important implications for treatment because studies with patients with diabetes indicated that statins therapy reduced albuminuria by 25%.
