Sažetak
Important features emerging from several works is that satellite DNAs (satDNAs) and other repetitive sequences act as ‘‘active agents’’ for chromosomal evolution in mammals, and are implicated in reorganizational processes (reviewed by Adega et al. 2009). Moreover, different authors suggest that satDNAs sequences can even promote chromosomal rearrangements, due to their rapid evolution by means of intragenomic movements among different chromosomal fields (see Wichman et al. 1991, Reig et al. 1992). In this work we isolated and sequenced, for the first time, a satellite DNA family from Phodopus sungorus (Cricetidae family). The physical mapping of this sequence in Phodopus sungorus and the related species Peromyscus eremicus (Cricetidae) revealed interesting and different outcomes.
