Sažetak
In the course of biological investigations in the wetland area of the Neretva delta in 1994, 1995, 1996, the distribution of Chironomidae was studied. Neretva wetland is situated in the south of Croatia, on the Adriatic coast, sourraunded by karstic mountains, with a surface area of 12.500 Ha. The significance of the area is in the diversity of life forms and different types of habitats, such as alluvial beaches, smal islands, karstic fenomena (so-called "eyes" sources) and marsh watlads. Investigations were carried out on Rivers Neretva and Norin, Lakes Bačinska, Kuti and Desne, and Modro oko (an "eye" source). Gastropoda dominated in the macrozoobenthos of most investigated sites. Numerous were also: Oligochaeta , Ostracoda, Amphypoda, and Chironomidae. A total of 18 Chironomidae species were identified, which were classified in 5 subfamilies: Chironominae: Chironomus annularius (Meig.), Chironomus gr. plumosus (L.), Chironomus reductus Lipina, Cryptochironomus sp., Limnochironomus nervosus (Staeg.), Microchironomus sp., Microtendipes chloris (Meig.), Paratentipes albimanus (Meig.), Polypedilum scalaenum (Schr.), Micropsectra praecox (Meig.), Tanytarsus sp; Orthocladiinae: Cricotopus bicinctus (Meig.), Eukiefferiella ilkleyensis (Edw.), Orthocladius gr. saxicola (Kieff.), Paracladius sp.; Corynoneurinae: Corynoneura celeripes Winner; Diamesinae: Diamesa sp. and Tanypodinae: Procladius choreus (Meig.). Most species were found in Lakes Desne and Modro oko (6), while in Lake Crniševo (Bačinska Lakes) and in the River neretva five species were found.
