Sažetak
The purpose of this paper is to acquaint the interested archaeological public with the find of a pair of silver axes from the site of Stari Jankovci. The axes considered in this paper are most probably locally produced artefacts, consistent with the local metallurgical and morphological traditions, suiting local preferrences and fashion. For the production of the actual pieces, however, the artist/craftsman most likely made use of some existing artefacts which were perhaps in unusable state (e.g. broken) or perhaps simply did not suit the taste or needs of the owner. Or, for instance, the value of the original items would be more than compensated by the value of the commission for the axes.
