Sažetak
The inhibitory action of 1H-benzotriazole (BTAH) on copper was investigated in an aqueous solution in the pH range 4 10, using cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy techniques. The best corrosion protection was offered by the thin films formed on an oxidised Cu surface. The surface films on copper had a multilayer structure of cuprous oxide and copper (I) benzotriazole and their protection increased with increasing inhibitor concentration and the pH of the solution. A correlation between the inhibition efficiency of the inhibitor, the surface layer thickness, the properties of the oxide layer more or less stabilised by the inhibitor, and the polarisation resistance was established.
