Sažetak
Textile materials and seams used in making protective clothing must be impermeable to penetration (at physical level) and permeation (at molecular level). Despite the recommendations of the manufacturer of insecticides to use special protective materials, denim materials are often used. This paper analyses the effectiveness of denim and its seams as a protective material against the penetration of insecticides. Samples were tested according to the European standard: Protective Clothing-Protection against Liquid Chemicals. For this purpose, an automatic device was constructed for penetration testing at the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb. The test method for the resistance of materials to penetration by liquids was ISO 6530:2005. This method was applied for the measurement of permeability of different types of seams. The following liquids were used for testing: water, H2SO4 and insecticide Pyrinex 48 EC. All testing was conducted at the TSRC (Textile Science Research Center) supported by the FP7 REGPOT-2, T-pot project.
