Sažetak
A role of ECAA agreement, which defines liberalisation agenda in South East European region, is recognised through a full liberalisation of air traffic rights by placing legislation requirements for new route network development within the region. While connections with main European destinations are dominant and all the leading European carriers are already operating in the region, presently only 10% of all the SEE airlines’ commercial activity is realised within South East Europe airport network. With regard to main European airports capacity crunch, future role of South East European airports is recognised. The paper elaborates state of the air transport industry in South East Europe focusing on potentials for airport network development in the region. Network development strategies of South East European airlines are also analysed in order to improve connections between individual capitals and major cities of the South East Europe and regional integration in European air transport network.
