Sažetak
A postcolonial interpretation of Tatyana Tolstaya's novel Kys' (The Slynx) starts with the issue of monstrosity and it's cultural mapping in the world of dystopian fiction set in the hypothetical Moscow two hundred years after an event termed "the Blast". In this approach, the category of Monster is taken as a code or a pattern of a presence or an absence that unsettles what has been routinely received as natural and human. After connecting monstrosity with the issue of diet, body and language, we approach next the problem of hybridization on cultural, stylistic and textual or structural level. Hibridity of the novel as a whole – especially produced by mingling and contrasting low prose style with grand poetic style presented in novel by abundant literary allusions transposed mainly from Russian poetry – opens not only the question of intertextuality but the question of the grotesque in the manner of the Menippean satire.
