Sažetak
Naphthenes had been emphasized as bioactive components responsible for good effects, among the others, in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. Our study with a set analytical tools (HR GC, GC-MS, NMR, HP LC, IR, UV/VIS) brought some light into the composition of naphthalane as a mixture of a huge number compounds including saturated iso- and cyclo-alkans in an enormous variety of structures. Among them, great number of isomers and homologous were found. Among naphthenes drimanes/eudesmanes, chailanthanes, different tetracyclics and hopanes were identified. Among tetracycles, steranes were discovered, appearing in a cluster of homologues, all in the skeleton of vitamins D, of steroidal hormones, as well as to skeleton of synthetic steroidal drugs. Thus, they were stressed as important constituents offering curing properties of naphthalane. Thus, Croatian brown naphthalane contained lower portion of heavy aromatics, including PAHs. In the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris, good results were achieved.
