Sažetak
The main goal of this research was to examine the possible differences in anthropometric characteristics and motor skills between male grammar school students engaged in some organized sport activities outside school and those not engaged. The sample consisted of 206 male students of one high school in Zagreb from 15 to 19 years of age. All students were tested in the same conditions with all together 13 standard anthropometric and motor tests. Anthropometric measures consisted of: body height, body weight, upper arm circumference, upper leg circumference, upper arm skinfold and lower leg skinfold. Motor skills were tested with: obstacle course over and through (coordination), standing long jump (explosive strength), sit-ups (muscular strength of the torso), hold on chin up (muscular endurance of the shoulder girdle and arms), hand tapping (movement frequency), forward bow (flexibility) and one legged balance bench standing (balance). By use of discriminative analysis, statistically significant differences have been found between sport engaged and sport lacking high school male students.
