Sažetak
In light of the new European climate-energy package for an increase of energy supply security, decrease of environmental and climatic impacts and improvement of sustainable development with special emphasis on employment and regional development, the EU members, which will soon be joined by Croatia, are implementing a new policy concerning energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in the building sector. This article gives an analysis of the energy consumption in education sector in Croatia with a forecast and a model of energy consumption up to the year 2050, with regards to the expected changes in building regulations and compares the results with the base scenario contained in the Green paper on energy strategy for Croatia. Also the model takes into account demographic scenarios forecast which is directly connected with the heated and cooled space needed in the education sector. Results clearly show the possibilities for energy savings which are the result of the demographic scenarios and the specific facts about buildings that are to be expected in the EU in the years to follow. Croatia, as a future EU member, is obliged to follow European directives concerning energy efficient buildings which are regulating an increase in energy efficiency in the building sector. The results of the aforementioned scenarios are showing substantial differences in the predictions based on different methodologies.
