Sažetak
Dynamic development of cities brings increasing number of motor vehicles on the existing urban roads with limited capacity. Consequently, a demand for improvement of transportation services is rising up. The urban area needs an efficient transportation system which will ensure fast, comfortable and safe traffic flow as an integral part of the public transportation system. This paper illustrates the mentioned problems taking the city of Split as an example: there is a rail line through the urban area and it caused some space and traffic issues in the past, but now days, it could be used as a solution for urban transportation problems. Planned corridor of the city railway will be mostly under the ground. The brief review of the planned opportunities will be presented.
