Sažetak
The paper presents engineering, energetic and economic analyses of building thermal systems driven by natural gas. Attention has been paid to system design, real possibilities and limits of gas application as well as to market conditions influencing equipment prices and operational costs. Analyses comprise application of condensation boilers, compression and absorption chillers and heat pumps, as well as cogeneration systems for simultaneous production of heating and electricity (CHP) and systems for simultaneous production of cooling, heating and electricity (CCHP) with gas turbine or gas engine. Possibilities and limits for increasing the energy efficiency of considered systems are presented. The need for integral approach to the building and HVAC system design and optimization with aim to achieve optimal life cycle costs is pointed out through practical examples. Cost analysis is based on real operation conditions and described in examples of calculations.
