Sažetak
The most important request for the safe use of ECDIS system is accurate, reliable and timely updating by the officer on watch. Some relevant deficiencies noticed in the existing updating procedures could be eliminated by implementing appropriate computer–satellite infrastructure that should enable 24/7 ECDIS on-line updating in real time. In this paper, the architecture of such automatic real time updating system without time delay is suggested. The advantages of this system are a reduction of human errors in onboard chart corrections and an increase of system reliability and safety of navigation.
