Sažetak
The aim of this Special issue of the Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry entitled “The Neurobiology of Neurodegenerative Disorders: From Basic to Clinical Research” is focused on the preclinical and clinical investigation of neurodegenerative disorders. The Special issue includes ten articles. Three reviews explain the different mechanisms and hypotheses of neurodegenerative disorders, while the other three articles describe the present knowledge on the genetic variations and polymorphisms as the risk factors for the development of neurodegenerative disorders. Two reviews focused on the pathogenesis and molecular basis of ALS using animal models and clinical data. The problems of current therapeutic approaches are addressed in the last two articles.
