Sažetak
The production of hydrogen, one of the most promising candidates for the fuel of the future by the electrolysis water represents an ecologically clean and sustainable technology whose essential problem is an effective, durable and economical electrocatalyst. Due to their mechanical and chemical stability and high electrocatalytic activity, nickel and nickel-based electrodes are among the most often used electrode materials for the alkaline water electrolysis. Enhancement of activity of nickel for the electrolytic hydrogen evolution has been carried out by the formation of nickel alloys such as Ni-S, Raney Ni, Ni-Mo, Raney Ni-RuO2, Ni-Sn, Ni-W, Ni-Ti. Recent interest in nanocrystalline nickel and its alloys has been spurred by several appealing characteristic inherent to these materials: high strength/hardness, apparently greater resistance to scratch and wear damage, corrosion damage and fatigue crack initiation.
