Sažetak
The electrochemical behaviour of a copper electrode modified by two different self-assembled monolayers has been studied in an aqueous acetate buffer solution by electrochemical dc and ac techniques, and in situ scanning electrochemical microscopy. On the copper surface, long chain alkanethiols form a monolayer anchored by the copper-sulphur interaction which is stabilized by the van der Waals type of forces between long chains. This structure offers an excellent corrosion protection of copper in aqueous solutions.
